ROBERT Thomson reckons Morton can be satisfied with a point away to Inverness after their poor first-half performance.

The striker didn’t shy away from the fact that his side under-performed in the first 45 but he believes a draw was a fair reflection of the game after Ton improved in the second half.

But there was still a hint of disappointment in his reaction because the Greenock men finished the game strongly — and could have nicked all three points towards the end.

He told the Tele: “I think overall a point is probably a fair reflection of the game on Saturday.

“We didn’t really start properly and Inverness took advantage of that. With it being 1-0 at half-time, we started playing in the second half and we were probably a bit disappointed not to get the winner as well.

“We looked a different team in the second half, maybe the conditions had a wee part to play in that with the wind behind us. But overall I think it was a totally different team in the second half.

“It’s always the same that if you finish strong, you end up disappointed not to win. But a draw was a fair reflection overall.

“Over the course of the season I think Inverness will be a difficult place to go.

“So any time picking up a result or any points up there can be considered not too bad a result.”

Thomson was moved around during the Highland clash, starting on the left of a midfield four before moving up top to partner Bob McHugh and then back again.

The 24-year-old says he was happy playing the versatile role.
And he was delighted to get off the mark with his first Championship goal of the season — and hopes there are many more to come.

He added: “As long as I’m playing I’m quite happy to do any role.

“I’ll always give my best and put everything into it, as long as it’s beneficial for the team I’m totally happy to do it.

“It was pleasing to get my first goal in the league.

“That was my third league game. I’ve not had many chances in the league so I’m just happy to get off the mark.”
