MORTON manager Jim Duffy says they can’t underestimate Brechin City ahead of tomorrow's game at Cappielow.

The part-timers have struggled this season, not picking up a single win in the league and will be relegated if they don’t pick up all three points against the Ton at the weekend.

But the Morton boss says they won’t take the basement side lightly tomorrow.

He told the Tele: “They’ve tried all the various options and it hasn’t gone their way, and there will be a time where they’ve just said ‘let’s take the chains off and go for it’.

“They’re playing with freedom, they’re relaxed, and they know that they will be relegated at some point.

“That takes the pressure off them to a certain extent because they can understand where they are in the pecking order, and hope they can spring a surprise.”

Brechin have been involved in a lot of tight games this year, and have had a habit of conceding late goals.

Darren Dods’ side have let in eight goals in the last 15 minutes of games so far this season, with the part-timers looking like they were on course for points in seven matches until their opponents scored late on.

Duffy believes that can begin to psychologically affect players.

He added: “They’re a team that makes it difficult for other teams, they obviously haven’t had the breaks this year, they’ve lost a lot of late goals and that’s maybe knocked the stuffing out of them on more than one occasion.

“When that happens once or twice in a season it can be quite a blow but when it happens more than that, then particularly when you are struggling, it definitely has an impact on you.”
