MORTON boss Allan Moore was fulsome in his praise of the club's development squad players after their contribution to last night's 9-0 win over Viewfield Rovers.
Aidan Fulton, David Verlaque, David McNeil and Jordan Cairnie all scored while Mark Russell, Craig Knight and Glenn Eadie provided assists as Ton secured their spot in the Renfrewshire Cup final.
Moore has been delighted with the way the 12 teenagers who were brought on board during the summer have adapted to full-time football and says they excelled against amateurs Viewfield.
He told the Tele: "Tonight was a good performance and a decent wee run out for the likes of Joe [McKee] and Reece [Hands].
"In the second half I thought the young boys were superb. They knocked the ball about really well and played some really good football.
"I'm excited to see the young boys doing so well and getting the credit for their involvement for some of the goals.
"They excelled themselves. They all did well and there wasn't a failure among them. Davie Hopkin's got them playing good football.
"These young boys are the lifeblood of the club for the years to come - some of them are only 16 - and I've been pleasantly surprised with their quality when they've come into training." Moore had been hoping to field Slovakians Tomas Peciar and Michal Habai but revealed he had been unable to finalise their contracts in time.
He added: "We're having a wee bit of hassle getting the clearance from Slovakia, but we're hoping to get it cleared tomorrow."
