IN-FORM Morton midfielder Barrie McKay has put his recent impressive performances down to a spell on the sidelines.
The Rangers loanee made a bright start to his time at Cappielow but found himself on the bench for matches against Hamilton Accies, Cowdenbeath, Queen of the South after a dip in his displays.
However, he was restored to the starting line-up for the clash against Dumbarton and seized the opportunity by scoring against the Sons and then again in the 2-0 win over Livingston last weekend.
The 19-year-old told the Tele: “I was pretty disappointed not to play, but you just need to accept the manager’s decision.
“But I think that kind of helped me, the fact I had been playing, then I didn’t play before coming back in again.
“When you’re on the bench you need to impress to get back in the team. I’ve been doing well again so maybe it’s worked that way.”
