JIM Duffy has played down speculation linking him with moves for unattached central midfielders Mark Millar and Patrick Cregg.

Local lad Millar last played for Falkirk on loan from Dundee United while Irishman Cregg, who turned out for Morton as a trialist in season 2010-11, was on St Johnstone’s books last term.

The pair are both currently without clubs and Tele sources have suggested that they are on Morton’s radar following the departure of Fouad Bachirou.

Ton boss Duffy admits they are individuals whose availability has been brought to his attention but insists there is nothing more to it than that.

He told the Tele: “There haven’t been talks with either of those players or their agents regarding them possibly coming in or not.

“There have been a number of players who have been recommended to me by agents and people in the game, and those are two who have been suggested to me over the last few weeks.

“I did get a text from an agent regarding Mark Millar on Sunday I think it was, but I said I was just going to let things settle down and assess my squad at this moment in time.

“Mark Millar and Paddy Cregg are good players, but whether they are players we actually need at this moment in time is something I need to think about.

“But I have had absolutely no contact with them whatsoever in any shape or form.”
