MORTON players and fans are looking forward to life in the Championship after the team clinched the League One title on a dramatic last day of the season.
Cappielow was the scene for a big promotion party on Saturday after the Ton defeated Peterhead 3-1 to secure the silverware, with goals by Michael Miller, Mark Russell and Declan McManus.
The final whistle saw euphoric fans rush on to the pitch and they mobbed the players before the arrival of the trophy, which was delivered by helicopter.
Ton’s celebrations went into extra time on Sunday when the team travelled to the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow city centre for the Scottish player of the year awards night. And striker McManus’s wonderful weekend continued when he was named League’s One top performer by his fellow pros.
Now the whole squad will take a well earned break before returning during the summer for pre-season preparations.
