Dutchmen Sabajo and Ricardo Talu have trained with the Cappielow club since the squad’s return to Parklea at the end of June.

The pair played in bounce matches against Dundee, an African touring select, and Kilmarnock, in a game which took place on Wednesday afternoon.

Supporters were given a glimpse of the duo in Andy Bryan’s testimonial, when sub Sabajo played the second half on the left wing and Talu was given a 30-minute runout in the centre of defence.

They are expected to learn their fate today, and Sabajo admits he hopes to be offered a deal and be able to follow in the footsteps of ex-Hamilton, St Mirren and St Johnstone man Hasselbaink, right.

Speaking exclusively to the Tele, the 26-year-old said: “We are here on trial and I think we will find out soon what the situation is.

“I was here for 10 days originally and played against Dundee and then another game. After that I went home and now I’m back; I flew in on Monday night. So far it has been good.

“The trial [with Morton] came about when I played in a showcase organised by Adam Kassim at Next Level Soccer.

“I played a few games, against Motherwell and Partick Thistle. After that the coach [Jim Duffy] asked me to come for the trial. Would I be happy to join Morton? Yes, I want to sign. Coming to Scotland was always something I wanted to do. “A friend of mine, Nigel Hasselbaink, was over here and played last year with Hamilton. He is a good friend of mine, we played together at PSV, and I saw him play over here and it looked good. So for me I hope that I can play the same way he played.” Sabajo was given 45 minutes against a Celtic XI on Monday just two hours after arriving back in the country from the Netherlands, and he felt it was a testing outing. He added: “It was a difficult game and I had a difficult start. Celtic played very well and played good football, so for us it was a little bit difficult because we had to work behind the ball all the time. We had a few chances. I could have scored myself but it was just a little bit too rushed and the keeper stopped another one with a good save. In the end it was a good game and I tried my best.”
