In these cold and dark nights, the last thing you might want to do is get home from work and start cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
Sometimes all you want to hear are those three magical words…
“Chinese for tea?”
We asked Greenock Telegraph readers what their favourite Chinese takeaway in Inverclyde is.
So, in no particular order, here are just seven of the top-rated places in the town.
Cathay Royale
Cathay Royale is a family-run business on Greenock’s West Blackhall Street. Cars can usually be found abandoned along the cobbled street any weekend night, with punters lined up to get their tasty fix.
It opened its doors to customers 20 years ago and has been serving authentic Cantonese cuisine and a selection of European dishes to diners looking to both sit-in or takeaway.

Pak Lee
Gourockians are spoiled for choice when it comes to takeaways. But, Pak Lee seemed to reign supreme in our Facebook poll.
Situated on Kempock Street, the takeaway is a firm favourite of all who try.
Chows
This Greenock Chinese really has it all.
Situated at Barrs Cottage, you can pick up one of their many social media deals that are popular with customers on Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat or their set menu that they run at certain times each day.
They’ve even got Costco cake in stock if you fancy something sweet for after your meal.

Greenhill
Sitting on Cumberland Road, this is the takeaway of choice for people in Braeside and the surrounding area.
Fan favourites are the curry and green pepper and black bean sauce dishes.
Wing Wah
Many people who have been on a night out in Greenock have had the toss up between extending the evening at the local nightclub or visiting Wing Wah instead.
Many an evening has finished with one of the Chinese’s snack boxes that are loved by people of all ages.
If you’d rather a fish supper, don’t fret – we’ve also rounded up a selection of top chip shops too.
