A MAN has been arrested and faces prosecution after a major incident which saw armed police seal off a street in Greenock’s east end and surround a property.
Police rushed to Grosvenor Road at around 10.40am on Sunday following a report of a disturbance in the street.
Armed units and uniformed officers locked down the road between Sinclair Street and East Crawford Street before encircling a home.

Emergency services spent much of Sunday afternoon holding position outside the property, with access to the road blocked for the duration of the incident.
Shocked onlookers watched as police with guns and shields descended on the scene.
Over 10 police vehicles were involved in the response, with a cordon set up.
One eyewitness spotted a blue Audi parked on the street which appeared to have sustained significant damage, with its two left passenger windows smashed.
Police have now announced that a 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the disturbance.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were also involved in the response to the emergency.
They confirmed they sent a pair of appliances to the area to assist with the police response.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 10.40am on Sunday 3 March to a report of a disturbance in the Grosvenor Road area of Greenock.
“Emergency services attended, and a 44-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection."
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service added: “We were alerted at 11.14am on Sunday to assist partners at Grosvenor Road, Greenock.
“Operations control mobilised two appliances to the scene, crews left after ensuring the area had been made safe.”
